This painting is of a couch in a second hand shop that was upholstered with the same fabric as my Bubbi’s couch. It is an examination of that symbolism of finding objects closely associated with family in spaces that expose their conventional and unemotional identity as things in other contexts.

This painting part of the same series of studies that Couch belongs in, and is another exploration in color and manipulation of space. The importance of the image’s depiction of communication becomes important for this reason, and juxtaposes the vastness of the space within the landscape.
